Gaston ZONGO

Gaston Zongo holds a degree from the Paris National Higher Institute of Telecommunications (Sup Telecom) in 1976, a postgraduate diploma in Economics obtained in 1977 on a program jointly organized by the University of Paris 9 Dauphine and the national Institute for Nuclear Sciences and Techniques (Saclay, France). After holding several management positions with the national telecommunications operator in Burkina Faso between 1977 and 1996, he created the Economic Observatory for Telecommunications in Africa at the Multinational Higher School of Telecommunications (ESMT) in Dakar, before joining the International Development Research Center (IDRC) in Canada as Executive Director of the Acacias, Communities and Information Society in Africa Initiative. Since 2000, he is also a member of the Board of directors of Panos Institute West Africa (PIWA). He was President of PIWA’s Board of directors from…to…and honorary president since…In 2009, he created the Business Intelligence & Development Support- network (BIDS-net), an Economic Intelligence, Planning and Strategies consultancy firm based in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) that he manages.
